Rotary International in Partnership With APEN Mark World Polio Day

On the 24th of October,  Rotary International in partnership with APEN organized a school's debate and walk-a-thon to commemorate the world polio day. Chrisland schools, Cayley College, Oxbridge Tutorial College, ST&T Regency College and Supreme Education Foundation participated in this debate themed " The impact of Poliomylitis on Nigeria's current socio-economic development is minimal" True or False? Chrisland school Ikeja came 1st, with Cayley as 1st runner up and Oxbridge Tutorial College as 2nd runner-up. Following this was a walk-a-thon on Saturday, the 1st of November 2014 which kicked off from The National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. The following schools participated in the walk: Cuddly Kids, Cedec International school and Chrisland school. It was a very enlightening event!








NIGERIA: POLIO CASES AS AT WEEK 42, 2014

As at October 17, 2014 Nigeria has:

6 confirmed WPV1 in 2 states compared to 49 cases in 9 states for the same period in 2013
  • Date of onset of latest WPV case is 24 July, 2014
There have been no confirmed WPV3 since November 2012

20 confirmed vaccine derived poliovirus (cVDPV2) in 2 states compared to 1 case in 2013 for the same period
  • Date of onset of latest cVDPV2 case is 17 August, 2014
