Can your school produce the 2015 Microsoft Code developer champion?

Last year December 2014, Microsoft Nigeria hosted one of the biggest global ICT events in the world, "The Hour of Code" Nigeria Computer Science Week 2014. About Ten schools in Lagos attended the event and the children from the ages of 5 to 16 years old participated in a one day programming workshop.
Microsoft Nigeria will be holding "Code Week Nigeria" a yearly event inviting both primary schools and secondary schools in Nigeria to teach and prepare kids on apps and game development for the national programming competition.

For this year they will be inviting over 500 students from Lagos, Abuja and Port Harcourt to participate in a 4 day programming boot camp workshop holding 14th to 17th April 2015 from 9am to 3pm. They will be teaching both primary and secondary schools on Multimedia Animation for 5 to 7 years old, Game Design for 8 to 10 years old & 11 to 16 years old and Mobile Apps Development for 11 to 16 years old.

They will be holding the first National Coding Competition holding in June, a national talent search will be held to identify 12 of our most promising children who will represent their schools in an all expenses paid trip to join one of the world's largest gathering of children during the Microsoft Imagine Cup in Seattle USA during the summer.

In order to reach to as many students as possible, Microsoft and its partners have subsidized the cost  by providing the venue, systems, facilitators and materials.
They want to officially invite your school for your students to attend this workshop, they have openings for 10 students to participate in both primary and secondary schools.

This is a huge opportunity for your students to get exposed to the world of coding and students can represent the school by entering for the competition.

Between the month of April to July interested schools and students will be able to attend additional weekend classes and Coding Clubs held in schools, this will be supported by Microsoft Nigeria.

Microsoft will be  providing an E-coding kit,  all the tools that a child  requires to start
learning coding at their own pace during the boot camp, at home or in school at subsidized cost of N5,000. The kit contains self paced tutoring classes and projects.

They will also be providing reputable food vendors for kids to purchase vouchers in order  to buy  light refreshment  during the  short morning break and lunch in the afternoon, this is optional. Lunch is N5,000 for 4 days and light refreshment is N1,800 for 4 days which covers  both food & drinks.
